Gary-go-Round

So who died and made Gary king? I chose Charmander and he chose Squirtle. When we battled a Oak's Lab, Gary went first and used Tackle. I used Scratch, but instead, Gary got another turn and uesd Tackle. So I used Scratch again. But it gave Gary ANOTHER turn and he used Tackle. I thought there was something wrong with tht move, so I used Growl. Instead, Gary got another turn and used Tackle. Charmander was dead. But I never even got to attack!!
