And Magmar has entered the arena! What Pokemon will his opponent use now!?! the announcers voice rang out for all to hear. A Pokeball came from the other side of the arena and bounced once opening up with a bright white light emitting from it.
GO ELECTABUZZ! The 2 Pokemon stared off.
WOW folks, 2 rare Pokemon battling it out for the win! I cant wait to see this fight! again the announcers voice rang out from the speakers. The first trainer stood proudly.
Magmar, Flame-thrower! he yelled aloud. The Magmar reared back, and burst forward, releasing a gouge of flames at the Electabuzz.
Electabuzz, Agility!, the second trainer replied defiantly. The Electabuzz moved at great speeds and easily evaded the flames from Magmar. Thunder Punch! the second trainer yelled to his faithful Pokemon. The Electabuzz drew back his fist as static electricity built up around it.
Fire Punch! the first trainer countered with an utmost sense of pride. The Magmar also drew back, his body heat rising as his fist flared up in flames. The two Pokemon swung at each other, each leaving a trailing blaze behind their powered fists. Their fists connected with each other causing a large flash of light. The two combatants winced in pain as they pushed on, neither wanting to give up. Fire and lightning flared back and forth between the two. Both trainers watched impatiently, gritting their teeth. Come on Electabuzz, your stronger, you can do it! the trainer yelled, sweat dripping down his brow.
Dont listen to him Magmar, I know you can take out that pathetic Pokemon! Push harder! The two Pokemon remained locked, the energy flowing about began to dim, and the two Pokemon slowly pulled back from each other, exhausted.
Electabuzz, Thunder!!!
Magmar, Fire Blast!!
Each Pokemon pulled their remaining energy together, and released their most powerful attacks at one another. The star shaped blast fire screeched through the air, burning and leaving a smell of O-zone. A large bolt of lightning surged through the Electrabuzzs body before erupting out of its hands, streaking towards the Magmar. The two attacks struck and exploded, canceling eachother out. The rafters above exploded, and shingled down sparks. The two Pokemon lay helpless, breathing heavily from the battle, each barely conscience.
Oh, and its unbelievable! A double knock out! the announcers voice echoed throughout the stadium.
Leon looked around in the darkness a feeling of uneasiness inside. Mommy, its dark. The small child said with fear in his eyes.
His mother looked down, and in a soothing voice, replied, Its okay dear, they can fix it. A few minutes later, posts from the sides of the arena rose, and lights flicked on illuminating the stadium once again.
Leon turned back to his mother. Im gonna be a Pokemon Master when I grow up, huh? She looked at her child lovingly, You can do whatever you want. She smiled and looked to the arena as new trainers stepped up, tossing their Pokeballs out. A Charizard, and a Vileplume. Leons eyes widened as he saw the large fire lizard.
I want that Pokemon. I like that one! The Vileplume soaked up sunlight and shot forth its Solar beam attack. The Charizards fiery breathe trailed out towards the incoming blast, colliding and canceling it out. Leon stared in awe, his eyes focused on the Charizard.
Leon, get yer butt in here now! a raspy voice called out from downstairs. Leon came rushing down the stairs, a look of irritance on his face.
WHAT NOW GRANDMA?!?! He answered angrily.
Dont you sas me boy. His grandma replied.
Well what do you want this time, I did all my chores.
You readin that dang Pookymon book again, arntcha?
Yeah, so.
I told ya, yuz aint getting involved wit dat!
I know what you told me grandma, and you can shove it up your....
Finish that and Ill stick that thare broom up yer toot. She cut him off in a harsh tone. He stared at her with anger swelling.
Its not fair Grandma. Im 16 and the only kid in town without a Pokemon Trainers license. Everyone else has one. If Im gonna be a Pokemon trainer, I need a Pokemon.
I done told ya darnit. Ya aint gettin involved with that.
Why are you so selfish? Just because mom got kil.....
I said ya aint playin wit da Pookymon. Now you forget about dem damned creatures. And dont you ever use ya mothers accident ta argue wit me. She again cut him off, sharper this time. Now what did I call you down here fer gain?
Leon ran upsatairs in a hurry. Im tired of this shit. Im leaving tomorrow, and thats final. He packed his things, and got his clothes ready for the next day. While packing, he heard his childhood sweetheart call from outside.
Hey Leon, whatchya doing? she yelled out.
Leaning out the window, he called out to her. Listen Melissa, Im leaving. My grandma pushed me over the edge this time. She doesnt understand that ever since I was little I wanted to train Pokemon.
Leaving!?!? Without me? And what about little Alex? You know he looks up to you. She said trying to swallow her emotions. Alex, was Melissas little brother. Irritating at times, he was always ready to lend a hand to Leon.
I have to, I cant stay cooped up in my house all day doing my grandmas chores and not being able to go out because she hates Pokemon.
Well, if your leaving, your taking me with you. She retorted unarguably.
And how do you intend on getting out. Your patrents wouldnt agree with that. Im leaving tommorrow morning, so you better hurry and meet me at the entrance to town. I wont expect you to be there, but if ya are, see ya then. He pulled back in, and closed the window. She wont make it, her parents dont even like me.
Early the next day, as Leon was exiting town, Melissa was already there waiting for him along the trail.
Come on, I wanna get to Viridian City by night. He said to her, thinking this was just her goodbye.
Alright, lets go. She replied kindly.
So, your really coming with me, heh? He asked.
Of course. My parents..
I dont care what your parents said, as long as you can keep up, you can come. He cut her off.
As the sun began to set, and the sky grew darker, Melissa stopped to rest. A few feet up, Leon stopped and turned to her. Why you stopping?
Im tired, and its getting dark. Lets camp out here. She said exhausted from the days travel.
Fine. Leon gave in. He kneeled down, and pulled a rolled up sleeping bag out of his pack. Unrolling it and laying it out, he noticed Melissa watching him from the corner of his eye. What?
I uh...I...dont have a sleeping bag...or a blanket. She said a little embarrassed. Sighing in a rather friendly mood, he got up and tossed her the sleeping bag.
Here, Ill keep watch.
Are you sure...? I dont wanna seem like a nuisance already.
Dont worry about it. By the way, mind if I borrow one of your Pokemon and a pokeball? Im gonna go catch me my own.
Sure, here lemme get them out. She reached into her bag and pulled out three pokeballs. Tossing the first one to him, he caught it just before it hit the ground. Thats my Likitung, be careful with him. Tossing another, Leon caught this one perfectly. Thats an empty one. You do know how to catch those thins right?
Sure, Ive watched the training programs. He gave her a look as though he knew exactly what he was talking about.
See ya in the morning. She laid back down and rolled over in the sleeping bag getting comfortable for the night and dozed off.
Leon stalked through the forest, trying his best not to make to much noise. He heard a twig snap and turned around to see a Weedle crawling along the ground just a few feet ahead. Weedle.....? Do I really wanna waist a Pokeberry on that? HA, I dont think so He turned back around and wandered deeper into the forest.
He kept going until he came to a clearing and stood at the edge. In the clearing stood a young man, sweat dropping down the side of his face. A Charmander stood a few feet in front of him, also seemingly tired out.
Leons face lit up when he saw the Charmander. It was the one Pokemon he had always wanted. Something about the little fire lizard just got to him. Ahead of the Charmander, a Squirtle had a clear smile on its face.
Behind it was another trainer, his face all arrogantly staring off into nothingness. The Charmanders trainer yelled out something, and the Charmander charged at the Squirtle, its claws extended as it scratched out at the Water Pokemon. The opposing trainer also called out, his voice calm. The Squirtle waited till the Charmander was right up on it before tucking low and withdrawing into its hard shell. The Charmanders claws racked off the shell not being any more effective than a blade of grass. As the Charmander drew back panting, the Squirtle stuck its head out and let out a wide spray of water. The Charmander dropped to the ground, helplessly laying there almost lifeless.
The Trainer called back the Squirtle and walked off with a confident smile on his tainted face. The first trainer stood there, worn out and disappointed. He walked up to the unconscience Pokemon and kicked it in its side. You stupid little weakling, you cant win at anything. A blasted Caterpie wiped you out! I never wanna see you again, ya hear me?!?! With that he stormed off, leaving the empty Pokeball at the Charmanders side. Leon waited until he was sure the trainer was gone and approached the Charmander, kneeling down beside it.
Hey there.... He called out with a whispery and soothing voice. you all right? The Charmander opened its eyes, staring up through narrow slits.
Char... Its voice was crackled and weak. It fell back unconscience. Leon picked it up and carried it back to his camp. There he found Melissa fast asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he wrote a note.
