At the age of 10, children are allowed to start their "Pokemon Journey", with little monsters (Pokemon,) as companions. The kids and their Pokemon have to travel around the world, for there are 151 different Pokemon to catch and train, which can live anywhere. Some Pokemon trainers believe in raising and battling Pokemon. Others, such as Professor Oak, are into studying Pokemon. That's where Ash Ketchum comes in. Ash is a little boy who is just beginning his Pokemon journey. He, like all trainers, will recieve from Porffesor Oak, one Pokemon to start with.
Today's journeys aren't like the others, though.....today the young trainers have to beat 8 Gym Leaders of Pokemon Gyms, and catch all 151 Pocket Monsters......what is this world coming to?
Welcome to the world of Pokemon.....and good luck!! Professor Oak has 3 Pokemon for you to borrow. They are Charmander, Bulbsaur, and Squirtle. They each have different skill levels:
Bulbasaur = Easy
Squirtle = Intermediate
Charmander = Hard
Note: Beginning players, start with Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur is a Dual Type, Grass/Poison. Dual types have twice the Advantages (and weaknesses) of Single types. Also, Bulbasaur is your best against Brock and Misty, the first two Gym leaders in the game.
Note: Once you believe that you are more skilled at Pokemon, it's best to start with Squirtle. Squirtle is a water type, OK against Brock. But Misty trains water types, and water against water isn't always a good thing.
Note: Charmander is for Experts. He has a disadvantage against Brock AND Misty, and takes skill to raise. However, your effort pays off when it reaches level 16, and ESPECIALLY at level 36.
There are different Pokemon in different versions. Here are Pokemon that are in BLUE VERSION and not RED:
Sandshrew, Sandslash. Vulpix, Ninetales. Meowth, Persian. Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebell. Magmar. Pinsir.
Pokemon that are int RED VERSION and not BLUE are:
Ekans, Arbok. Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume. Mankey, Primeape. Growlithe, Arcanine. Scyther. Electabuzz.
TMs are Technical Machines. There are 50 of them strewn about the game. They can be found in the outdoors or given to you by people. HMs are Hidden Machines. There are only 5 for you to find. You are most likely to recieve an HM from a person than to find one. When you tech a Pokemon a TM move, you can erase that move for a another one if you wish to. However, you had better think wisely with HM moves, because once you teach one to a Pokemon, it will never forget that move.
If a Pokemon gets hurt or injured, you should go to a Pokemon Center. 1 Pokemon Center is in each city. In Pokemon Centers, there is a lady at the left counter. Talk to her and she will heal your Pokemon for you. There is a Computer over in the corner of the Pokemon center. Log on and you can get your Pokedex rated, view your Hall Of Fame (if you have beaten the Elite Four,) store your items, and store your Pokemon. If you hook up a Game Link Cable from your Game Boy to your friend's Game Boy, you can talk to the lady at the right counter. She will get you and your pal together in the same room, where you can trade Pokemon or battle Pokemon. You can not use items in the trade center.
In Pokemon Marts, you can talk to the lady at the counter to the left counter. She will show you a list of items that you can buy to use for your Pokemon. When you select an item, the price and number you are paying for is shown. You can also sell your items if you are low on money. Any item that has a number by it, for example, "Potion, x2", you can sell. Items such as the Poke Flute, you cannot sell.
After you beat all 8 Gym Leders, you will have acsess to Pokemon League, where you have to battle the Elite Four. The Elite Four consists of Loreli, an Ice/Water Pokemon Trainer, Bruno, a Rock/Fighting Pokemon Trainer, Agatha, a Ghost Pokemon Trainer, and Lance, a Dragon Pokemon Trainer.
Actually, it should be the Elite Five, because after you beat Lance, you have to beat your Rival. If he chose Charmander for a starter, he will have:
Pidgeot L. 61, Alakazam L. 59, Rhydon L. 61, Exeggutor L. 61, Gyarados L. 63, Charizard L. 65.
If he got Squirtle, he will have:
Pidgeot L. 61, Alakazam L. 59, Rhydon L. 61, Arcanine L. 61, Exeggutor L. 63, Blastoise L. 65.
If he got Bulbasaur from Professor Oak, he will have:
Pidgeot L. 61, Alakazam L. 59, Rhydon L. 61, Gyarados L. 61, Arcanine L. 63, Venusaur L. 65.
Against The Elite....Four/Five, I suggest ANY of the following:
Raichu
Electabuzz
Kabutops
Articuno
Moltres
Zapdos
Gengar
Alakazam
Dragonite
Machamp
Golem

Best Defense: Gym Leaders
Here are Pokemon tht re good against the Gym Leaders.If a Pokemon's name is a color, Blue, for example, it means that the Pokemon is only in that Version. Trainers with a different Version will have to trade for one.
