Chapter one: Psychic Mom
Boom!! The Kremling smashed into Donkey Kong, killing him. The words "Game Over" flashed across the screen. Mandy took her eyes off of the Super Nintendo. Finally. She had been playing Donkey Kong all morning, and it was now time for her to get her first Pokemon. She hurried down the stairs and to the door. Her mom stared a baleful look at her. �You didn�t put on clean underwear.� she said.
�Hehehehe...how do you know?� Mandy asked.
�When I went on my Pokemon journey as a little girl, my Pokemon were of the Psychic type.� mom reminded Mandy. �And you aren�t wearing sunscreen.� she added.
�Oh.....yeah...� Mandy mumbled, trudging back up the stairs.
After she had changed her underwear, Mandy sped out the door at a high speed. She scraped up miles of dust, which trailed behind her in a hazy smoke. The hot summer sun beat down on Mandy, who was, luckily, wearing sunscreen. As she nearly whizzed passed it, she noticed Professor Spears� Lab. She skidded to a stop, dust billowing up behind her like a cape. At this hour, Spears would be out in the tall grass, photographing Pokemon. She hurried out to search for him, but was called back by Spears himself.
�Hey!! Mandy, come back!!� Spears shouted. He ran over to Mandy, shielding her from a wild Pokemon.
�Pika!!� It shouted. It was the hero, Pikachu!! But to them, it was a wild Pikachu on level 5.
�Bulbasaur, go!!� Spears shouted.
�Bulbaasaurrr!!� Bulbasaur proudly rumbled.
�Bulbasaur, Leech Seed, now!!� Spears commanded. Bulbasaur obeyed and propelled the poison seeds at Pikachu, weakening it. �Pokeball, go!!� Spears yelled, tossing a Pokeball at Pikachu. Pikachu struggled, and almost escaped, but no luck. Spears had captured the Pikachu. �Close call!! Let�s get back to the lab.�
Spears signalled to Mandy. Mandy followed, excited about getting her first Pokemon.
�Britney!! I thought I told you to come by later!!� Spears shouted as he saw Britney standing in the waiting room.
�I thought I�d come by now, Gramps.� Britney crowed.
�Okay. Just a minute. Mandy, you may have the Pokemon that is on the table. It�s in the Pokeball.� Spears said.
�Okay. I�ll take good care of it.� Mandy accepted. She walked over to the table and picked up the Pokeball.
Britney went beserk, and snatched it from Mandy.
�Britney!! What in blue blazes are you doing?� Spears questioned. �Gramps, I want this Pokemon!!� Britney replied.
�Whatever. I was going to give you one, anyway, Britney.� Spears shrugged. �Here, Mandy. You can have the Pokemon I caught earlier.� Spears reassured Mandy.
�Hey, Mandy can wait!! I�ll take that one, too.� Britney said.
�Don�t get greedy.� Spears told Britney, handing Mandy the Pokeball.
�Yeah, don�t get greedy, MANDY!!!! Give me the Pokemon!!� Britney ordered.
�No!! I�ll battle you though.� Mandy told her. �Okay!!� Britney devilishly grinned.
�Eevee, Tackle!!� Britney commanded. Eevee hurled itself at Pikachu like a rocket.
�Pikachu, agility, then, use Thundershock!!� Mandy demanded. Pikachu zoomed out of Eevee�s attacking range with its agility, then summoned thunder to shock Eevee.
�Tail whip!!� Britney ordered. Eevee smacked its tail into Pikachu�s face, decreasing its defensive power.
�Pikachu, knock it out with Quick Attack!!� Mandy yelled. Just as determined to win as Eevee, Pikachu ran in circles around Eevee, confusing it. After Eevee made the mistake of tripping over its own foot, Pikachu�s running ceased, and the Quick Attack was at hand. �Vee!! Eevee!!� Eevee hollered, blacking out.
�Pika?� Pikachu cried, realizing what it had done. It hobbled over to the fainted Eevee. Pikachu gently nudged Eevee. Eevee didn�t move. �Chu!!!� Pikachu yelled, thundershocking it lightly. Eevee woke up and looked at Pikachu.
�Vee?� Eevee cooed.
�Kapika!!� Pikachu laughed. Pikachu ran up to Eevee and hugged it. Eevee licked Pikachu on the cheek.
�Unbelievable!! That loser beat me!! I chose the wrong Pokemon!!� Britney cried. �Okay!! I�ll make my Pokemon fight to toughen it up!!� Britney told Spears and Mandy. �Come on, Eevee!! Don waste your time hanging out with that pip-squeak.� Britney snarled before speeding out the door, dragging Eevee by the tail.
�PIKA!!� a rather insulted Pikachu squeaked. Mandy tried to catch up to Britney, but before she could step a foot out of Spears�s lab, Pikachu broke out of his Pokeball.
�Well well!! It seems that your Pikachu doesn�t like its Ball!! You�ll just have to carry it with you, then.�
Spears smiled.
�Pikachu.� Pikachu said. It wasn�t in a good mood. But Mandy hurried on.
Chapter two: Brock Rage
When Mandy reached Viridian City, the mood of Pikachu had not changed at all. It was still feeling pouty. But Mandy had captured two new companions for Pikachu; Ratatta and Pidgey. Mandy now owned 3 Pokemon.
Suddenly, Mandy spotted a boy sitting under a tree. And he didn�t look too happy. Mandy came nearer.
�H..hello?� Mandy started. The boy looked up.
�Hey!! Are you trying to ask me to go back to the gym? NO WAY!!� He hollered, throwing a Pokeball. �Vulpix, go!!�
�Wait!! Don�t battle me!! I just got OUT of a battle!!� Mandy exclaimed over the roar of Vulpix�s flames. The boy didn�t seem to hear her. �Go with the flow.� Mandy mumbled. �Pikachu, I choose you!!� Mandy ordered, hurling a Pokeball. Pikachu burst out.
�Piii.� it argued.
�Won�t you do one thing for me?� Mandy sadly asked.
�Chuu.�
Mandy looked at the enraged boy. Then she looked at Pikachu.
�Pikachu, Quick Attack!!� she continued. Before Pikachu could attack, Vulpix spat fire in Pikachu�s face with Ember. Pikachu stumbled and fell on Vulpix. He got up and started feeling his way around, blinded by ashes.
�Vulpix, Confuse Ray!!� Brock screamed. But Vulpix was to confuse by watching the burnt Pikachu dance around. �Vulpix?? uhhh....Tackle!!� Brock ordered.
Vulpix grinned and waited for the perfect time. Pikachu stumbled on a rock and fell.
�Vul!!� Vulpix bellowed, throwing itself at Pikachu. But just before Vulpix was to hit Pikachu, Pikachu got up and started to aimlessly feel its way around again. Vulpix hit a Pokeberry tree, and Pokeberries hit him on the head.
�Vulpix, Slam, now!!� Brock commanded. Vulpix got up and jumped into the air. A shadow appeared above Pikachu and.......
WHOOSH!! Vulpix was coming down butt first on Pikachu. But just before Vulpix thumped Pikachu on the noggin, Pikachu opened its eyes. He lurched up and shocked Vulpix�s rear, repelling Vulpix away. Pikachu had not been blinded, it was pretending all along. Vulpix landed on the ground with a splat. It had been outnumbered by a teensy weensy rat.
�Pikachu!!� Mandy shouted happily.
�Pika!!� Pikachu gladly exclaimed. Mandy grabbed Pikachu and hugged him.
�I knew you could do it!!� she commented. But not shortly after Mandy grabbed him......
�CHU!!!!!!� Pikachu screamed. It thundershocked poor Mandy again.
�Quit breaking my heart.� she mumbled. �And bones.�
�Woah!! You handle that Pikachu well!!� the boy droned.
�Actually, it did that in it own will. It doesn�t listen to me. I�m Mandy Moore...uh...I�m from Pallet Town.� Mandy stammered.
�Oh!! Hi!! I�m Brock, gym leader of Pewter City. And I quit. Being a gym leader is too boring for my likings.� Brock greeted her.
�Oh. I see. Do you have other Pokemon?� Mandy asked.
�Yeah. Most are stored in a computer, but for now I just carry Vulpix with me.� Brock told her.
�Do you want to come with me on my Pokemon journey?� Mandy asked. �I could use some help.�
�I would, Mandy, but not yet. I have to finish mine. I�ll meet up with you at Lavender Town.� Brock decided.
�Okay.� Mandy replied.
�Wait!! Since you beat that Vulpix, you can have my badge.� Brock exclaimed, handing Mandy a badge. After Brock left, Mandy examined the badge. It had "Boulder Badge" inscribed on the back.
�I.....I really don�t deserve this. You do, Pikachu.� she murmured. he handed the badge to Pikachu, but Pikachu shocked her hand.
�Chukapi!!� Pikachu exclaimed.
�Fine.� a rather crisp Mandy retorted, pinning the fried badge to her tank top.
Chapter three: A boring city
Mandy passed through Viridian Forest and caught a Weedle, Caterpie, and Nidoran male. She was now at Pewter City, and the city was very dormant. After Brock left, Pokemon trainers stopped coming to Pewter City. But there was a museum to the North, and Mandy snuck in the back way. A man walked by, and Mandy hid behind a flower pot. The man paused to wipe some dust off his shirt, then started to walk by the flower pot.
Knowing that she was going to be seen, Mandy hid in the leafy branches of the small tree that grew in the flower pot. The man was gone soon after, and Mandy leapt out of the tree. Another man walked by, but saw her.
�Martha? Aren�t you supposed to be in your office? Oh well.� this one said before walking on. Mandy was relieved. The guy had mistaken her for another worker. Mandy walked down another hall, but stopped when he saw a chubby lady with a wart on her nose coming. Thinking fast, Mandy hid under a vacant desk. The fat lady strode past with her nose in the air. She probably wouldn�t have noticed Mandy anyway, as she was too busy being self-centered.
Mandy noticed a chair next to the desk, and hid under it just in case anybody else were to walk by. When she was sure the coast was clear, she scrambled out from under the chair.
�EEEK!!� exclaimed a man who was apparently sitting on the chair at the time. He dropped 6 Pokeballs. Mandy took them with her and hurried on. But then she saw a Janitor sweeping up debris and mopping the floor.
Then she noticed the Janitor�s closet. She opened the door and stepped inside.
Mandy was in a dark, soap-smelling closet. She reached out and felt the walls. She was mashed between the walls, and that was when she remembered that she was afraid of tight spaces. She stepped backwards, and knocked over a broom. The broom landed on a mop, which landed on Mandy�s foot. Mandy hobbled around in the dark, clutching her foot, when she landed butt first in a bucket of soap suds. Then, light shined in on her.
Somebody had opened the door. It was the Janitor!! And he sure was mad.
�HEY!! You must have snuck in!! We don�t allow kids in here!!�
�Must.....have....wide.....open.....spaces.....� Mandy droned.
�I don�t care!! Now take this and leave!!� The Janitor yelled. And that�s exactly what Mandy did.
Mandy had scarcely exited the building when Pikachu chirped. �Pika. Pikachu.� Pikachu yelled. Mandy shook her head. Pikachu hated her. The item she had just obtained was Old Amber, which could be resurrected at Cinnibar Island.
Chapter four: Cheater After barely passing through Mount Moon, Mandy healed her Pokemon and started to Nugget bridge. She�d captured a Jigglypuff before entering Mount Moon, and it knew SING. Jigglypuff sung every trainer on Nugget bridge to sleep. Mandy grinned, slinking by each one. Pikachu wrote a word in the dirt, using a Rhydon horn.
Pikachu spelled out "Cheater" in Bold underlined letters. Mandy narrowed her eyes. �Why don�t you like me?� she asked, not expecting a real answer. Pikachu grinned. �Pika...� he said, and jumped into Mandy�s arms. Mandy smiled and hugged him.....
.....but Pikachu finished his sentence with �...chu!!� and used Thundershock. Mandy had "Cheater" written all over herself. �Well put, Pikachu,� Mandy thought silently. Suddenly, they heard crying. Mandy and Pikachu drew closer, and saw a boy with his Pokemon.
�Hello, there. What�s the matter?� Mandy asked, feeling concerned. The young trainer wiped his eyes. �I�m not a good trainer. My Charmander hates me.� he replied, still sobbing. Charmander had it�s nose turned up in disgust.
�You don�t have enough badges. It won�t listen.� Mandy stated. �Huh? You�re a beginner!! How did you know that?� the boy asked.
Mandy looked confused. �I don�t know...� Mandy mumbled wondering HOW she knew that. Charmander puffed smoke out of his mouth. The smoke formed the word "Cheater,� and the insulted was aimed at Mandy.
�It doesn�t matter. I suck as a trainer. You can have my Charmander. I have no need for it now.� the boy said. Charmander swatted the smoke away and leapt into Mandy�s arms. Mandy had captured a new Pokemon, more less, received one. Pikachu spelled "Cheater" out of rocks.
Chapter five: Good-bye Pikachu, for real
Mandy stopped by a house near the Poke Center of Cerulean City. Her eyes widened. The cutest boy in the world lived there with some Pokemon. Mandy spotted Sandshrew and Oddish, but she couldn�t make out the last one. She floated over dreamily, Pikachu following her. �Hi there!!� the boy said. �I�m Dominic. I take care of sick, injured, or abandoned Pokemon,� he added. He looked over at the Pokemon that stood tall next to him.
�I nursed this Bulbasaur back to health when it was caught in a forest fire.� he finished. Mandy suddenly looked serious. �Aww, what a cute Pikachu!! Can I hold him?� Dominic asked politely. Mandy�s eyes started to tear up. �You.....you can have him.� Mandy sobbed. �Huh?� Dominic looked at her, confused.
�He doesn�t listen to me. He�s level 5, and Pokemon up to level 20 are supposed to obey me. I�m the Pester ball of his eye.� Mandy moaned. �Take good care of....Pikachu......� Mandy trailed off. Her head hung. She headed to the door. �Wait!!� Dominic called. �No!! I can�t keep him!! He despises me!!� Mandy called back, bolting out the door. Pikachu stared at Dominic. �Pi?� he asked. �Oh brother.� Dominic moaned, under his breath.
Chapter six: The lonely Oddish
Mandy had gone on long enough without Pikachu. In a way, she wanted Pikachu back, and in another way, she didn�t want Pikachu back. �I can catch another.� Mandy said to herself. But no Pokemon could make up for Pikachu. Mandy suddenly jerked back.
�OOOOdddishyOOODDDD......� a voice whimpered. Mandy followed it into the exotic shrubs. A trainer, dressed in a black suit with an �R� on it, was kicking a Pokemon. �STUPID!! You can�t battle, OR win!! You aren�t rare.
You don�t evolve!! YOU STINK!!� he raged, aiming a final blow at the Pokemon. Mandy withdrew her Pokedex and aimed it at the cute Pokemon.
�Oddish, number forty-three. It is just one of several combined Grass-and-Poison-type Pok�mon. It likes first to Poison or Stun its opponents before it drains their energy with its Absorb attack.
TYPE: Grass/Poison
HEIGHT: .8 m
WEIGHT: 40 kg.� the Pokedex bleeped. Mandy turned it off before she could hear the evolution part. But, no matter. She already knew.
�Hey Riff-raff!! That�s what the �R� stands for, right?� Mandy called over the windy night breeze. �Hey, you spy, it�s 'Rocket' that this R stands for!! And whadda ya want?� the man replied.
�Your Oddish can battle, and win, it just needs time!! It�s only level 2!! My Pikachu could beat it!!� Mandy yowled. �What PIKACHU?� the Rocket scowled. �Let�s not get into that. But you need to train the poor thing, not kick it!! If you train him right, he will be rare. And also, ODDISH DOES EVOLVE!! On level 31, it�s Gloom, then it evolves into the tough Vileplume.� Mandy screeched. Then, a flashlight searched through the bushes.
Officer Jenny and some Pokemon appeared. Then, a trainer followed them.
�Okay, buddy. You have some confessing to do.� Jenny growled scornfully at the little tyrant. �And some Pokemon to return.� her Pokedex added. The trainer rose up. �Gimmie my thunders!!� he snarled at the pathetic Rocket. �And give that young lady her Oddish, number forty-three. It is just one of several combined Grass-and-Poison..........� Jenny�s Pokedex interrupted.
�Quiet, you.� she hushed. The Rocket hurtled a bag over his shoulder. It wiggled. He untied the knot keeping it shut. It whimpered. A Pokemon popped out. It had strange looking ears, a long, black, flowing tail with a thunderbolt at its end, and yellow circles on its cheeks. �RAIBOLT!! I missed you SOOOO much!!� The tall trainer screamed, clutching his Pokemon.
�Kid, I�m LT. Surge, and thank you for finding my Pokemon. You can have this badge and a TM. You don�t even have to beat me, I just missed my Raichu soooo much!!� Surge said. �Thanx.� Mandy replied, confused.
She spun around and saw the Rocket who was going crazy.
�Huh!! Listen, you brat!! I don�t care if this isn�t your Oddish!! Just take it and leave me alone!!� he screeched.
�HURT?!� Nurse Joy exclaimed. Britney nodded and dashed over to the counter. �My.....this Abra is injured badly. It will take us a few hours, but we can heal this Pokemon.� Nurse Joy took the Abra and started into the back room. Britney noticed Mandy on the couch.
�Mandy, will you look after Eevee for a while?� she asked.
�Sure.� Mandy replied, looking at Eevee sadly. She stroked it and gave it some Ice cream. Britney walked over to the back room. She spun back around.
�This doesn�t mean we aren�t rivals.� she finished. But before she disappeared, Mandy noticed a stain of vermillion colored blood on her shirt.
