Today was the day. The time was 8:00 A.M. in the town of Pallet. Josh Jacobson had just left his house to Professor Oak's lab. He had planned to get to get there early, before all of the good pokemon were taken. He was in a very good mood, because right before he left, his father had given him a Growlithe that he had had when he was a pokemon trainer. It was one of Josh's favorite pokemon. Just then he arrived at the professor's lab, along with some other kids that were getting their license today, including his twin brother Steve. Finally, it was time to choose his starting pokemon. "Hello there Josh!" said Prof. Oak. "Are you ready to choose your pokemon?" "You bet!" declared Josh. What have you got?" "Well," said the Professor, "There's Charmander, Farfeche'd, Voltorb, Meowth, Oddish, Ekans, Magnemite, Bellsprout, and Squirtle." "Great! I'll take Squirtle. After all, he is my favorite pokemon." "Wait, just one more thing," said Prof. Oak. He picked up some stuff and gave it to Josh. "Now here is your pokedex and ten extra pokeballs, and some super potion. You can buy more at a pokemart. Good luck!" He had just said good-bye to Professor Oak when his brother Steve confronted him and said, "Well what do we have here? It looks like Josh got his first pokemon. Anyway, enough talk. I challenge you to a pokemon battle!" "Okay, Steve, but you'll be sorry." "I think it's the other way around. Charmander, go!" "Ha! This should be easy. Squirtle, go! Show Charmander whose boss and give it a water gun, then bubble!" "Okay Charmander. Heat things up with an ember attack!" Charmander shot some embers at Squirtle but it didn't effect it that much, only gave it a couple little burns. Squirtle shot some water out of its mouth onto Charmander, and then a couple of carefully aimed bubbles at its tail. "Charmander, scratch!" "Squirtle, tackle!" Charmander scratched Squirtle right between the eyes, but was sorry when it got hit by Squirtle's hard shell. This was too much for Charmander, and it fainted. "Ha! I told you I'd win," said Josh. "Not so fast," said Steve. "Don't forget, Dad me a pokemon too. Bellsprout, go!" "A Bellsprout, ey?" said Josh. "Squirtle, return! Growlithe, go!" A beam of red light appeared and took form as a Growlithe. "Okay Growlithe. Give it a flame-thrower!" "Bellsprout, give it a vinewhip!" The vines and the flames collided. Unfortunately for Steve, the vines caught fire and so did Bellsprout. "Finish it off with a bite!" Growlithe jumped on Bellsprout and bit a couple of its leaves off, and Bellsprout fainted. "Now I won!" Shouted Josh gleefully. "You lucked out! Next time things will be different, you'll see!" said the angry Steve as he threw some cash at Josh. Will Josh ever get anymore pokemon? Will he collect all the badges and be a pokemon master? Is Steve right about things being different? And if he isn't, will he have enough cash to pay Josh? Join Josh and his pokemon and read on to find out in the rest! Chapter 2-Just Be Quiet
It had been a couple hours since Josh had left Oak's lab. He was walking along with Growlithe and Squirtle at his side. His pokedex had told him that some people have a special ability to understand pokemon, and surprisingly, Josh was one of those people. His pokedex had given him an example of one gymleaders, Ross Jacobsen of the legendary gym. That gym was rumored to be rigged, because nobody was able to beat the gymleader. "So what city are we going to and what gymleader are we going to incinerate?" said Growlithe. "Well, I think we should head over to the Pallet town gym," said Josh. "The leader there is Samurai, and he trains bug pokemon." "Ha!" said Growlithe. "I'll burn his sorry pokemon so bad, they'll think that they're in hell!" "And I'll soak them with my great water attacks!" said Squirtle. "Oh please," said Growlithe. "If you knew anything at all, you'd know that bug pokemon have a big advantage over water!" "So," said Squirtle. I'm so much better than Samurai's pokemon, I'll beat them anyway!" "You will not!" shouted Growlithe. "Will so!" yelled Squirtle. "Not!" "So!" "Not!" "So!" "Enough already!" yelled Josh. "Can't you just talk about something else?! I'm sick and tired of your arguing." They continued walking for about an hour when they heard a pokemon. "Did you hear that?" said Josh. "I think it was an Eevee! I'm gonna catch it. Growlithe, track it down with your sense of smell." "Sure thing, Josh. With my nose, that Eevee is as good as found!" Growlithe was following the scent when he suddenly stopped. "Eevee is right behind that bush." "Thanks Growlithe," said Josh. "Okay Squirtle, you're up! Give it a bite!" "Squirtle squirt!" said Squirtle. Eevee tried to tackle Squirtle, but missed. Squirtle bit Eevee, who reeled back in pain. "Okay Squirtle! Now give it a bubble!" The bubbles hit Eevee, and that was too much for it. It fainted on impact. "Pokeball go!" shouted Josh as he threw the ball at Eevee. The Eevee didn't struggle at all, and was easily caught. "Yes! I did it! I caught my first pokemon!" shouted Josh. "All thanks to me!" said Squirtle. "WHAT DO YA MEAN YOU!?!?! If it weren't for me, we never would have found it the first pla-uhoh," said Growlithe as he noticed Josh's not-to-happy expression. "Don't. Argue. Any. More," said Josh. "You are driving me insane!!!" "Sorry," squeaked Growlithe and Squirtle at the same time. They continued to walk along the path and they met up with some trainers. Josh was able to beat most of them, and he only lost to about one or two. They continued on when right in the middle of the path Josh noticed a wild Weedle and a wild Caterpie fighting. They both tackled eachother when Weedle did a poison sting. It hit Caterpie who was just about to faint when it used a string shot on the Weedle. The Weedle was paralyzed, and the Caterpie was fainted. Josh saw his chance and threw a pokeball at each one of them. The Caterpie was caught, but the Weedle had managed to break out of the pokeball. Josh threw another pokeball at it and this time the Weedle was caught. "Yes! That's five pokemon!" hollered Josh. Am I great or what!?!" Will Josh make it to Samurai, the Pallet Town gym leader and earn a Chrysalis badge? Will he keep catching pokemon at the rate he is now? Will Squirtle and Growlithe ever get along? You can find out by reading the rest! Chapter 3-So your Team Rocket
Josh and his pokemon, including his recently caught Pidgey, were on their way to the Pallet Town gym when they saw a sign. "I wonder what that says," said Josh. "Well, there's only one way to find out!" said Eevee, who was feeling much better from the super potion that Josh had given him. Eevee ran over to the sign. "Let's see", said Josh. He read it out loud. "Path 1: Pallet Town gym. Path 2: Pokemon cave. Path 3: Viridian Forest. Note: Team Rocket has been sighted at the pokemon cave. Be careful." "I wonder what the pokemon cave is", said Josh. "Let's go check it out!" said Growlithe. "I'll bet that there are lots of pokemon in there." So they headed to the pokemon cave. When they got there, there was another sign. This one said what pokemon were in the cave. "This cave is inhabited by: Sandshrew, Sandslash, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Zubat, Golbat, Abra, and the rare Mew," read Squirtle. "Mew!?!" said Josh loudly. "Wow! Those things are really rare. I'm gonna catch one!" "Well what are we waiting for? Let's go in!" said Squirtle. They were just about to step into the cave when a pokemon jumped in front of him. "Meowth!" said the pokemon. "Wow, a Meowth! I'm gonna catch it! Pidgey, go! Give it a sand-attack!" Pidgey flew close to the ground, kicking up sand into the Meowth's eyes. He created a whirlwind, which blew the Meowth off its feet. "Gust!" "Meowth!" yelled the Meowth as it was blown off its feet. "Now's my chance! Pokeball go!" The pokeball hit Meowth and it was sucked in. Josh saw the red light on the pokeball go off, which meant that the Meowth was caught. "Alright!" exclaimed Josh. "I got a Meowth." Josh stepped into the cave and said, "Boy it sure is dark in here. Growlithe, can you light this stick so I can use it as a torch?" "Sure thing, Josh," said Growlithe as he lit the flame on fire. "Thanks Growlithe," said Josh. "Hey what's that over there?" Two figures and a pokemon were holding net full of Sandshrew! Just then they saw Josh and said, "Dang! Another nosy pokemon trainer! That must be the third one today!" said one of the figures. "What are you doing with those Sandshrew?" asked Josh. "Stealing them. What does it look like?" "But you can't do that!" said Josh. "Well what are you gonna do about it, shrimp? Wait a minute, where are my manners? Allow us to introduce ourselves!" "To protect the world from devastation!" said one. "To unite all people within our nation!" said the other. "To denounce the evils of truth and love!" "To extend our reach to the stars above!" "Bonnie!" "Clyde!" "Team rocket, blast off at the speed of light!" "Surrender now or prepare to fight!" "Meowth, that's right!" "Team Rocket, I should have known!" said Josh. "Let me guess, you want my pokemon." "Correct!" said Clyde. "So why don't you just give them to us now and save yourself a lot of trouble." "Not on your life!" shouted Josh. "Voltorb, go!" "Zubat, go!" said Bonnie. "Eevee, Growlithe, go!" yelled Josh. Fireball and sand-attack!" "Zubat, bite attack, now!" said Bonnie. "Voltorb, thundershock!" Zubat was diving straight toward Growlithe and was dodging the fireballs that Growlithe was shooting at him. Finally, one connected and Zubat's left wing caught fire. Voltorb had shocked Eevee and was about to shock him again, but Eevee used sand-attack. That caused Voltorb to shock Zubat instead. Being part Flying, Zubat was knocked out of the air, and when it hit the ground it fainted. Growlithe tried to bite Voltorb, who used self-destruct. The move caused a blast of smoke, allowing Bonnie, Clyde, and Meowth to get away. But in the exact place that Bonnie had been standing in, Josh saw the bag of Sandshrew, which cut open with his pocketknife. One of the Sandshrew wanted to go with Josh one his journey, so it hopped into a pokeball. He also saw something else. It was a laser, labeled TM laser. He picked it up, hoping that it would be useful sometime. There was a manual too, which he also picked up. Will Josh find out the meaning of the mysterious TM laser? Will Josh get a Mew? Has Josh seen the last of Team Rocket? You can find out all this and more. All you have to do is read more of the story! Chapter 4-Pokemon Cave
Josh walked deeper into the cave. He was reading the manual and looking for more pokemon, but he couldn't find any. He was getting ready to turn around and leave when suddenly he felt something hit him from behind. He fell over. He felt another impact, but then he realized that it wasn't anything solid, it was some kind of invisible force. He turned around and saw what had pushed him to the ground. Sitting on top of a rock he saw a pokemon. "An Abra!" he yelled. "Meowth, go!" "I was in the middle of a nap!" protested Meowth. "Oh well, at least you have some good taste." "Okay Meowth! Give it a scratch!" said Josh. Meowth tried to scratch Abra, but the Abra used a teleport and dodged out of the way. Meowth tried to scratch Abra again, and this time Meowth hit Abra right in the "family jewels." "Alright Meowth. Now give it a bite!" Meowth jumped at Abra and bit it on the throat. This caused Abra to faint. Josh threw a pokeball at it and Abra was sucked in. The ball shook a little, but then it stopped and the red light went off. He continued his search for a Mew. A little while later Josh and his pokemon stopped to have lunch. Josh started reading the manual and found out that you can put TM's in the laser and you can use them during battle by shooting the laser and saying the TM's name out loud. Right now the laser had one of each TM. "I smell something," said Growlithe. "It smells likelikesome kind of pokemon!" "What pokemon?!?" said Josh, who was exited about the mention of a wild pokemon. "Well," said Growlithe, "I don't know. "I've never smelled this scent before." "Figures", muttered Squirtle under his breath. "What did you just say!?!" yelled Growlithe. "Enough. Now what did that pokemon smell like?" "Well, I think it was a psychic pokemon." "Psychic? The only psychic pokemon that you don't know the scent of in this cave is Mew! I have to catch it. If I don't take advantage of this opportunity, I'll never forgive myself!" said Josh. "Growlithe, find the Mew and then give it a flame-thrower." It didn't take Growlithe long to find the Mew. Josh thought it would be able to take the Mew by surprise. Unfortunately, the Mew knew that Growlithe was sneaking up behind him, thanks to its telekinesis. Right away it launched a powerful psychic attack at Growlithe. Growlithe used its flame-thrower on the Mew. It hit the Mew, but didn't injure it that much. Mew just used another psychic attack and fainted Growlithe. "Growlithe, return! Squirtle, go!" yelled Josh. Growlithe disappeared in a flash of red light, just as Squirtle appeared in the same flash. "Squirtle, water gun!" Squirtle shot water at Mew, only to have it stop in mid-air and turn back at him. "Squirtle!" said Squirtle, half in fear, half in amazement. Things continued to go on like this until Josh only had one pokemon left, which was his Eevee. Mew was weakening, but it was still pretty strong. Josh told Eevee to tackle Mew, and Mew just used its psychic attack. Josh was desperate. He had to make Eevee win somehow. Then Josh had a great idea. He took out the laser that found when Team Rocket escaped and aimed it at Eevee. "Mimic! Reflect!" Josh said into the laser as he pressed a button. The laser started glowing and then shot two beams straight at Eevee. The laser beams hit it. "Reflect!" shouted Josh to Eevee. Eevee used it just in time, because Mew gave Eevee a psybeam. "Okay Eevee, now use your Mimic! Then get it with a rage!" Eevee shot a psybeam at Mew, then started charging at it at full speed. This knocked Mew down. "Tackle!" Eevee jumped on Mew just as it was getting up. Mew was down once more. Mew shot Eevee with another psybeam, but Eevee put up its shield just in time. Eevee once again got Mew with its own attack. "Pokeball go!" said Josh. The pokeball hit Mew and sucked it in. It shook a couple times, but then it stopped. "Alright! I got a Mew!" exclaimed Josh. " I can't wait to see the look on Steve's face when he sees this! Ha!" A little while later Josh found the exit and headed to the Pallet Town gym. Will Josh get to the Pallet Town gym without running into Team Rocket? Will Josh run into Steve again? Will Steve really jump out of his skin when he finds out Josh has a Mew? You can find out by reading the rest! Chapter 5-The Chrysalis Badge
Two days had passed. Josh had arrived at the gym, but it was to late and it had already closed. He healed his pokemon at a pokemon center and set up camp near the gym. He managed to get there early the next morning, but a few people had gotten there before him. He went into the pokemart while he was waiting where he bought a couple more potions, a Scyther, some pokeballs, a master ball, and an evolution kit that was 50% off and had been imported from the evolution gym. The kit came with 1 fire, water, electric, leaf, moon, mist, flight, and mind stone, and also 9 Eevees. He also got some free rare candies. "Here Growlithe," said Josh. Would ya like a rare candy?" "Would I," said Growlithe, "I'd love one. Besides, it'll help me beat Samurai." Growlithe gobbled it down hungrily. Soon the receptionist called Josh's number. "That's us!" said Josh. Josh walked into the room to battle Samurai. "Greetings! I am Samurai. Do you wish to battle me?" "Well if I didn't would I be here?" said Josh. "Very well, novice. This will be a 3 on 3 battle. Butterfree, go! Stun Spore!" "Get 'em Growlithe! Give it a flame-thrower!" Butterfrees stun spore was incinerated by the flames, which quickly reached Butterfree. Butterfree was getting weaker, but it was still in the fight. "Psybeam!" "Fireball!" Butterfree was hit by the fireball and Growlithe by the psybeam. "Wing attack!" "Agility!" Butterfree came down and hit Growlithe with its wings over and over again. Growlithe tried to dodge, but it couldn't. Suddenly Growlithe had an idea. It ran at full speed, and then did a backflip over Butterfree. By the time Butterfree turned around, Growlithe had given it a flame-thrower and fainted it. "Butterfree return! Weedle, go! There was a flash of red light when it cleared there was a little worm with a pointed stinger on its head. "Poison Sting!" "Fire-shield!" Weedle flew at Growlithe, stinger out. Unfortunately for Weedle, it jumped into the fire-shield. "String shot!" "Scratch!" Growlithe tried to scratch Weedle, but just ended up in a sticky situation. After a couple seconds, Growlithes flaming body burned through the sticky substance. Growlithe advanced on Weedle, who was terrified, and gave it a giant gash. Weedle was badly hurt, and after another gash from Growlithe it fainted. "Prepare to meet your doom, novice!" said Samurai. "Pincer, go! Vicegrip!" Before it knew what was happening, Growlithe was being squeezed by Pincer. Growlithe was almost fainted. "Okay Growlithe! Focus energy, then take-down!" Growlithes body started glowing and burning more then ever (because of the focus energy), and Pincer was forced to let go. Growlithe jumped on Pincer, and ripped at its skin. Growlithe took it to the floor, and they both fainted. Or at least it looked like they both fainted. Josh and Samurai were about to return they're pokemon when Pincer and Growlithe both got up. They were dazed, but not fainted. "Seismic toss!" "Ember!" Growlithe shot a bunch of embers onto Pincer, who was very badly burned. Growlithe continued to do this until Pincer fainted. "Congratulations! You have officially earned the Chrysalis badge," said Samurai, as he returned Pincer. "That Growlithe is very strong, one of the strongest I've seen in a long time. Keep training, and some say you may be a pokemon master," said Samurai he threw the badge to Josh. The badge's picture had the left side of a Kakuna on the left side and the right side of a Metapod on the right side. "Thanks!" said Josh. He walked out of the gym and to the Pallet Town pokemon center where he healed Growlithe. When Growlithe was done, Josh and his pokemon headed to Viridian City. Chapter 6-Beating Steve
Josh had been in the Viridian Forest for about a week and a half. He had finally passed through Viridian City the day before. He met up with a few trainers, which he beat. He was able to get some more money from the trainers that he beat. He was just about to eat his lunch with his pokemon when he saw a Pincer. "Pin-CER!" it screeched. "Sandshrew, go!" he said. Josh had been training Sandshrew, so it was a bit stronger. "Sandshrew, rolling tackle, now!" Sandshrew curled up into a ball and started to roll at Pincer. It was gaining speed and momentum. It crashed into Pincer's leg, which caused Pincer to trip and fall. "Sandshrew, double scratch!" said Josh. Sandshrew scratched Pincer, but it didn't have much effect due to Pincer's hard skin. "Scratch it in the eyes!" yelled Josh. Pincer tried to get Sandshrew with its pincers, but Sandshrew was to fast for Pincer. Sandshrew scratched Pincer in the eyes. Pincer was momentarily blinded, and was staggering around drunkenly. "Okay Sandshrew! Finish it off with a dig!" Sandshrew dug a hole a came out right under Pincer. Pincer fell down and Josh threw a pokeball at it. Pincer was caught without much trouble. Josh continued through Viridian Forest when he ran into Steve, who challenged him to a 4 on 4 pokemon battle. "Now I'm gonna cream you!" said Steve. "Geodude, go!" "We'll see about that," said Josh. "Get 'em Mew! Psychic!" "Tackle it!" "Mew?!?" said Steve. "Oh well, Geodude can beat it." Geodude was heading straight for Mew. Mew was just about to be bashed a couple of yards when Geodude suddenly flew backwards. Geodude was banging itself against a tree. "Geodude, rock-throw!" "Mew, barrier, then metronome!" Mew put up its barrier and the rocks deflected off. Mew started to spin in a circle, and a tornado appeared. "Pokedex, what attack is Mew using?" said Josh. "Mew's metronome is using Dragon Rage," said Josh's pokedex in a robotic voice. Geodude was flying away from the tornado, but since Mew was a psychic pokemon, he was able to control the tornado into following Geodude. The tornado picked Geodude up and then threw him out. He landed a couple yards away. "Geodude, return! Charmander, go! Ember attack." "Mew, weakness ball!" Charmander shot embers at Mew and about 1 out of 3 of the embers that Charmander shot hit it. They were painful, but Mew didn't faint. Mew created a glowing ball that was hovering in mid-air. The ball then split into 3 balls and started to fly at Charmander. Then the one on the left turned into a ball of stone, the one on the right to a ball of dirt, and the one in the middle to a ball of water. They all hit Charmander, and he was badly hurt. Then rings started to form around Charmander. The rock-ring tied Charmander's hands together, like handcuffs. A piece of rock also sealed his mouth shut. The dirt-ring cuffed his feet together. And the water-ring pinned his tail to his body. Charmander was helpless, and the water was weakening him by making his tail-flame smaller. Mew had also lost a lot of energy by making the weakness ball. "Charmander, return! Pikachu, go!" "Mew, return! Sandshrew, go!" "Pikachu, swift!" "Sandshrew, dig!" Pikachu started to shoot stars out of its cheeks, but Sandshrew dodged them by going underground. Sandshrew surfaced right under Pikachu. "Pika!" yelled Pikachu as Sandshrew hit him. "Okay Sandshrew! Drill-Strike!" Sandshrew jumped above pikachu and came down at lightning speed while spinning around. He drilled into Pikachu who went unconscious right away. "Pikachu, return! Pincer, go! Show him who's the best with a seismic toss!" "Sandshrew, return! Scyther, go! Slash!" Scyther gave Pincer some nasty gashes across the chest, and one was half an inch deep. Scyther tried to cut Pincer some more, but Pincer grabbed it and hurled it against a tree. "Pincer, irongrip!" "Scyther, swords dance!" Scyther flew up to Pincer and started to spin around in a circle, with his blades out. He kept cutting Pincer until it was a bloody mess. Josh took out the TM laser and yelled body slam while pointing at Scyther/ "Scyther, finish off with a body slam!" "Scy-THER!" screeched Scyther as it slammed Pincer to the ground. "Arrrgh!" said Steve in a rage as he threw some cash at Josh. "You beat me again! You'll be sorry, Josh!" Will Steve power up his pokemon and beat Josh? Will Josh once again show Steve who's the best next time they encounter? Will Josh get to Viridian City safely? You can find out all this and more by reading more of the story! Chapter 7-Flint Stone and the Boulder Badge
It was 2 days since Josh had battled Steve. He had fought a lot of trainers and beaten every single one of them. He had caught a Tangela and two Venonats and traded one for a Hitmonlee. His Weedle and Caterpie had evolved into Kakuna and Metapod. And he could see Pewter City, which wasn't far away. He walked for a couple hours and then he finally made it to Pewter. It was about 10:30, and the gyms' hours' were 9:00-5:00. Josh went to the pokemon center and healed his pokemon. While he was waiting, he saw a crying boy with a badly hurt pokemon. "You'll be okay, Pidgeotto! You'll make it!" said the boy as a few Chanseys quickly carried the pokemon to the emergency room. "That's the eighth one this week," sighed Nurse Joy. "How that happen?" asked Josh to nurse Joy. "Well, Flint Stone is the local gym leader. And ever since his Geodude and Onix evolved into Gravler and Domonix, nobody has been able to beat him. Especially because of that Rhydon. Only a few have been lucky." "Wow. He seems pretty tough." "Well, that's a gymleader for you. Anyway, I assume you're here to get your pokemon healed?" "Yeah," said Josh as he handed Nurse Joy his pokeballs. "Okay. This should just take a minute," said Nurse Joy. Josh got his pokemon healed and then headed over to the Pewter gym. He got lost, but eventually found his way with the help of some locals. The gym was made out of boulders and rocks. Josh stepped inside, and fortunately there wasn't much of a line. He had to fill out some forms, and soon it was Josh's turn. He walked onto the battleground, which was made out of rock. It also had several small "mountains." Suddenly he heard a voice say, "So you are the trainer who I'll beat next. This will be a 3 on 3 battle." Josh saw a figure walk out of the shadows. It was a middle-aged man, who looked like an older version of Brock Stone, the famous pokemon breeder. "Gravler, go!" said Flint. "Get'm, Squirtle!" yelled Josh. "Gravler, avalanche!" "Squirtle, water-gun!" Gravler pounded the ground. The mountains started to shake, and then rocks started falling out of the mountains. Squirtle got out of the way just in time, and the rocks were to far away to hit Squirtle. Squirtle shot water at Gravler, who was badly hurt. "Gravler, slam, then rock-slide!" "Squirtle, spinning tackle!" Gravler picked up Squirtle and slammed it to the ground. Then it curled up into a ball and lunged at Squirtle, who went in its shell and did a spinning jump at Gravler. They both collided. Gravler got a crack in its body and Squirtle in its shell. They both fainted. "Get em', Domonix!" "Hitmonlee, go!" Gravler disappeared and in its place stood a bigger, thicker, longer version of Onix that was made out of diamond. "Tail whip!" "Hi-jump kick!" Domonix swept its heavy tail at Hitmonlee, who jumped out of the way and kicked Domonix in the face. "Cyclone kick!" "Tackle!" Hitmonlee swung its legs in circles like propellers and started to fly low to the ground. It dodged Domonix and kicked it in the face once again. Domonix got angry and lunged itself at Hitmonlee, this time not missing its target. It hit Hitmonlee right in the chest, and believe me, it really knocks the wind out of you when you get hit by a Domonix. Hitmonlee was down, but back up again in about 10 seconds. Hitmonlee and Domonix were both getting weak. "Okay Hitmonlee! Finish it off with a double kick!" "Domonix, bind it!" Hitmonlee jumped out of Domonix's grasp. But Domonix was turning around and coming back for Hitmonlee. Hitmonlee realized that it couldn't do a double kick in time. So instead of a double kick, Hitmonlee jumped above Domonix's head and started spinning around. It came down on Domonix and drilled into its head with its sharp claws. Domonix screamed in pain and fainted. "Domonix, return! Rhydon, go! Horn attack!" "Focus energy!" Hitmonlee started glowing as Rhydon butted its head at Hitmonlee. Rhydon connected on the second try and Hitmonlee flew back. It was still glowing as it kicked Rhydon in the face. "Tail Whip!" Rhydon swung its mighty tail at Hitmonlee, but not in time. Hitmonlee ducked. Rhydon swung its tail again, but this time Hitmonlee wasn't quick enough. Hitmonlee was badly hurt. "Double kick!" Hitmonlee jumped on to Rhydon and kicked it in the face. This got Rhydon really riled up and it punched Hitmonlee really hard. Hitmonlee was down and this time it didn't get up. "Hitmonlee, return! Mew go! Psychic now!" "Stomp!" Rhydon jumped towards Mew and tried to crush it with its feet. Mew teleported out of the way just in time and Rhydon was slammed against one of the mountains. "Okay Rhydon, show no mercy! Give it a leer, and then the hyper-beam!" Rhydon swung around and faced Mew. Its eyes started glowing and Mew's vision and thoughts momentarily became a blur. This was all the time that Rhydon needed. On the tip of its horn a light formed. Then without warning a thick beam shot out of it. "Psybeam!" shrieked Josh. Now Mew shot a beam out of its head and it collided with Rhydon's. The hyper-beam was inching closer and closer to Mew. Soon it was only about 10 inches away. "Do something!" Mew heard Josh's command and compared the possibilities. If it stopped the psybeam and put up a weak barrier it would be hit by the beam and be left with a little more strength then Rhydon. Mew couldn't think of anything better and the hyper-beam was getting closer and closer. It put up the barrier and braced itself. The hyper-beam hit it and it was down, but back up again in no time. "Confusion!" Mew concentrated and Rhydon wobbled around. It fainted soon after. "Well it looks like ya beat me," said Flint. "So here's the boulder badge. Oh, and before I forget, what was that cool attack that your Hitmonlee did?" "Well actually," said Josh, "I don't know. Wait, let me check my pokedex." Josh asked his pokedex what the attack was and it turned out that the attack was a new one. "Cool. A new attack!" exclaimed Josh. "I'll call Professor Oak about it." Josh left the gym and headed towards the pokemon center where he healed his pokemon. Then he left town and headed for the Mt. Moon gym.
